Job Overview
The Director, Insurance Product Management will lead the development of new and existing insurance products which are critical to Afficiency’s growth and continued industry leadership. This is a high-profile role within Afficiency and will directly report to the Chief Executive Officer and have heavy exposure to the rest of the executive team.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Chief Executive Officer to understand and develop product strategy
Lead development of new and existing insurance products through ideation, planning, execution, evaluation, and revision
Take hands-on approach to completing necessary tasks to create new products including development of applications, forms, and policies for regulatory filings; underwriting guidelines, product pricing, reviewing actuarial models; developing product models; market and pricing analyses; negotiating key terms with insurers and reinsurers; presenting new products to sales, marketing and other teams across the organization
Be the key point of contact and product expert across the organization
Work closely with the Operations and Technology teams to facilitate the digitization of new insurance products that you develop
Work closely with the Sales and Finance teams to incorporate market demand and profitability hurdles into your product development goals
Coordinate and manage internal and external resources in a timely and cost-efficient manner
Ability to collaborate with insurance carrier and reinsurance partners and their product, operations, actuary and underwriting teams
Lead the qualitative and quantitative assessment of products, performance, market and competitive dynamics
Key Criteria
Strong knowledge of the life insurance industry and a thorough understanding of the industry business processes and products
Deep understanding of the components that drive successful products, including distribution, pricing, underwriting, compliance, policy administration, and attributes specific to life insurance products
Comfort working with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment to push initiatives to the finish line and meet deadlines
Comfort with working closely and representing Afficiency in front of senior executives from clients, insurance carriers, and distributors
Self-starter mind-set with a passion for building great products
Roll-up-the-sleeves attitude to get things done both individually and with the help of others across the organization
Ability to think independently and to find solutions with limited guidance and resources
Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
